A little bit Sassy

Hello my friends.  Hope your Tuesday has gone well.  Today I'm sharing a 'just for fun' card.  It's an image from one of my favoritest shops... Sassy Cheryl's Digis. Cheryl has some of the cutest images you'll find anywhere.  I decided to play with Let's take a dip.  Soooo danged ca-yute!!!

I've had this image for ages and I mean ages!!!  Don't know what took me so long to color her up, but I must admit I have a lot of images I've never gotten to.  I need to rectify that. I'd bet quite a few of us need to rectify that!  Am I right???  Anywhooo... I love this image.  I'm not at all sure I like the rest of the card, but this image I love!!

I colored this up a couple, three weeks ago and thought I'd take another stab at clean and simple.  Not a great success but I always struggle with this type.  I've seen sooooo many beautiful and perfectly clean and simple, but mine just never seem to look right.  {sigh}

Lucky me... GDT for 2 FAB challenges!

Edit:  Shared top 3 honors at DYSU Challenge

I've been smiling all week as I've had such a fun time coloring up some Saturated Canary images for my summer GDT duties for that challenge.  I get such enjoyment from working these gals (and guys) into cards.  Don't you?  AND, this week, I'm also honored (and crazy tickled) to be the Guest Designer for CMC Copic Challenge.  You know... with Suzanne Dean!!!  WooHOO.  So... let's get on to it.

Tada!  This sweetie is called Orchard Love and  I just adore her.  As I mentioned above, I've colored her up for my GDT duties (yeah... tough duty!!)as follows:

Saturated Canary Challenge  - black and white plus a splash of one other color

CMC Copic Challenge - anything goes but with a girlie twist

How's that for a couple of "can't wait to get started" challenges you just don't want to pass up?

Even though I've had such fun coloring up images this week, there has been some sadness recently.  Since the last time I posted, my dear, beloved great dane passed away.  Even though it's not him, he looked exactly like the photo I have under the "About Me" banner.  He had a heat stroke and his 9 year old body just couldn't recover from it.  My heart is broken as he was just so fabulous, but having my granddaughter with me has been a huge help as has my crafting.  I'll try to ease my sadness by remembering all the great times we had together... and there were a LOT!  I love you Roscoe and boy... do I miss you!!  Go run on dog heaven's levy like you did when you were younger.

OK... sorry 'bout that but I just needed to say a little good-bye to my sweet boy.  Thanks for being tolerant of that.

This last photo isn't the best, but i think it's fun to see creations from other viewpoints so I decided to go ahead and post it.  I'm also trying the x-large photo choice for my first two pictures.  I'll have to see if I like it or not once it's "goes live".  If you have time, let me know what you think.

Blogger Challenge - color splash (black and white with a splash of color)

Saturated Canary Challenge - 1st GDT card!!

Good Thursday morning all you fabulous crafters out there!!  This is an exciting day for me as it's the first challenge at Saturated Canary Challenges where I'm participating as GDT!  WooHOO!!  To be included with that list of talented ladies is just mind-blowing!!  Yep... it's a good day.  OK... 'nuff of that... let's get to it.

This is What the Librarian Reads... which is a fab new image from Krista's latest release.  I used her for our new challenge theme... BLING IT OUT.  It was great fun creating this card.  I'm not good at the 'over-the-top' embellishing that so many of you do so wonderfully, so this is pretty intense bling for me!  I know, it's not a ton, but I like it all!  I can't wait to see what the other DT gals have come up with.  As well as you!!

Now... just to share a bit about creating this card.  I like her with black hair, but that's not how she started.  Nope... she started out as an auburn-haired beauty.  Well... since I'd just used auburn hair on my 4th of July card (previous post), I just couldn't have two auburn-haired beauties in row, could I?  So, I got out my copic colorless blender and went to work to get that auburn color to disappear.  I was just sure it wasn't going to work.  By the time I was done and ready to start with the cool grays, she looked terrible!!  There was smatterings of light auburn left and all the "blendering" caused it to bleed outside the lines as well.  Again... no way this was going to work.  But I started in with the grays and I'll be danged if it didn't come out well after all!!  Of course, going with black hair instead of say... blonde was a requirement rather than a choice!  As I worked, I kept 'cleaning up' the auburn color outside the lines and finally, it was all good.  I thought I was going to have to 'shadow' her with some darker coloring, but no... not necessary.  I was just sooo pleased that I didn't have to go start from scratch.  That's one thing I've found about this new Xpress-It paper.  It cleans up really, really nicely.  Normally, I just have to clean up little spots, but it's even good for a whole section of an image.  {smile}

I'm adding a couple extra pictures for this post.  I visit a lot of blogs and some have a lot of photos and some have one.  I've been limiting myself to two, but I think maybe I like a bit more views.  So... let me know what you like, OK?  Just one, two to three or more than that?  I'd be very interested to know.

Challenges:
By the Cute and Girly -a day at... {anything you want} the library
Creative Card Crew - pearls and swirls
Crafty Calendar Challenge - flowers in bloom w/ optional extra of swirls/flourishes

 Thanks for stopping by today.  You all just make my day and I'm always so appreciative of your visit!  Come back soon, 'K?

Patriotic... 4th of July... red, white and blue

Good Tuesday afternoon my friends.  Man... it's already 4th of July tomorrow!!  How does that happen??  Time just keeps flyin' by, doesn't it?  But since it is our nation's birthday tomorrow, I've cooked up a card that covers the whole gamet... patriotic... 4th of July... red, white, blue... and a whole lot of cute (image-wise)!!  This is one of Krista's new images called Hair Situation.

Now let me tell ya something.  That little lady does have lots of hair!!  And isn't it glorious!?!  This is my first stab at auburn hair.  I'm not sure I'm real happy with it, but I guess it could have been worse {smile}!  I'll keep working on it.  I'll probably try some other color combos to see what I like best.  If you have any suggestions that work really well for you, I'd love to hear about them.  I just love getting new ideas from my sweet commenters.

Let me ask you something... how are you with chipboard?  I've always fought with it and I was never quite sure how to get those fun shapes colored right.  Well... a while back I purchased a Jenni Bowlin acrylic pain dabber (cough syrup).  It is simply p-e-r-f-e-c-t!  I was soooo pleased that it covered so well and was soooo easy to use!  Now I have to go out to buy about fifty other colors.  haha!

It's been so great getting back into my beloved paper crafting/coloring again.  And I must thank you all for a lot of that.  You've been leaving me such wonderful and encouraging comments that it just makes me want to create more and more.  I just want to THANK YOU so much for that.  I really means the world to me!!

Fun in the Sun

Hi folks!  Hope your Thursday has gone well.  I wanted to start out by thanking all those who have sent best wishes for my mom.  Such sweet, sweet people out there in stamping blogland!  It means a LOT!  And by the way, she is doing much better and we're very hopeful for a full recovery!  {big smile}

Now to the fun stuff... a new card.  Yep... I'm stuck on these sweet Saturated Canary images and have now worked up this darlin' called Beach Baby.  She's just a smile waitin' to happen isn't she?  And so fun to color up.

I know... I know... the DPs I've chosen don't make anyone think of the beach or sun fun.  But, I decided that wasn't necessary or anything to worry about. I've seen some terrifically cute 'beach' cards with the whole beachy theme, but this is OK too, right?  : )  Oh... and please, no tough comments on the sand, 'K?  It's my first try and I came up a little short.  I was just dotting my little copic heart out and that's the best it got!  haha!

SC Windy Day

Happy Saturday my stamping friends.  Hope this post finds you well and enjoying some healthy creative time.  At least I find it to be healing and calming.  I'm really getting back to enjoying creating my cards again.  Soooo... I've just popped in to share another with you.  It's another Saturated Canary image... Windy Day.

I finished this a few days ago and am just now getting around to posting.  Unfortunately, my mom's currently in the hospital so my days have been busy visiting her and worrying when I'm not there.  She's doing better, so the stress is somewhat lessened and I'm grateful for that!!  I haven't colored for a few days, but think getting some 'color time' will help me stay calm and sane!!

Thank heavens for such cute images like this little gal that help me and so many of us get our minds off our busy lives or our troubles.  These are my fave colors and was soooo fun to put together.  For the 'matting' I took three Prima Bright flowers, glued them together and attached my sentiment to them.  I missed dead center, but I like the result.  Gives extra texture and just looks cute (I think).

Red, White and Blue for Teddy Bo

Edit:  Shared top 7 honors at  Tuesday Throwdown
Edit:  Shared runner up honors at Teddy Bo Challenge

Hello my stamping friends!  Did you all have a great Memorial Day weekend?  I know I did!  Just can't beat those three day weekends, right??  : )  Over the weekend, among many other things, I worked up another Teddy Bo image.  Such fun!!  This one will be for my son's birthday which is coming up quickly!!

This image is called Sausages.  Doesn't Teddy Bo look just like a home grill 'chef' getting a little overwhelmed with their brats??  {smile}  I just giggle every time I look at him.  My son is a pretty darn good grill master, so I thought this would be quite appropriate for him.  {smile again}

The Teddy Bo Challenge this time is red, white and blue.  I decided to go half between Memorial Day and Fourth of July.  There are several challenges I've seen using this color combo this week.  Lucky me!!  I added a little speckled affect on the birthday sentiment.  This was simply done by bouncing the image on the Stampin' Up real red stamp pad (old, old, old one).  And another piece of luck... I found a BG glazed brad that matches my bottom DP!  YAY!!

Smile and say cheeeeese...

Smile... it's Monday!!  LOL!  Well, it's certainly not my favorite day, but I'm going to try to make the most of it.  How 'bout you?

I worked up this wonderful Teddy Bo image for my grandson, Jackson's birthday.  I sure hope he likes it.  I just love these papers.  They work so great for boys (and men).  I so wanted to use the word 'smile' on this card, but I had a heck of a time finding the font I wanted.  My printer's still not working so I had to figure something else out.  I ended up finding these 3-D letters at Hobby Lobby.  They are really too big and kinda overwhelm the card, but I don't think it's too bad.  It did take me quite a while to cute out those silly word mats!!  Now don't look too closely... I had to 'piece' a couple of the letters.  {smile}

Uptown Girl Claudia

Edit:  Won first place honor at Dilly Beans Designers & Friday Challenge

Hello friends and stampers!!  I hope you've had a great Tuesday.  I did something unusual today.  I finished a card just a bit ago and wanted to share it with you.  It's my first Stamping Bella Uptown Girl... Claudia Has Candy.  I just think these uptown girls are da bomb!!  I'm planning on getting a couple (well... maybe a few more than that!!) more when I have the chance.

Isn't she just fab???  And I also got to use my new (to me) Cosmo Cricket Tea for Two DP.  So fun!!  I have really enjoyed working on Ms. Claudia.  I've really been out of the creating mood for quite a few months now.  I've made a couple cards during this time, but it was such a huge chore and not the pleasure it usually brought me.  But, I felt that pleasure again with this card.  So I'm hopeful I'll be able to get back into the swing of things again.  {crossing fingers!}

Happy Birthday to You...

Happy Friday stampers!!  Wow... two posts in one week!!  Impressive for me after my long absence, right??  OK... not so much as I'm sharing a card I made back in December for my granddaughter's 13th birthday.  I'm just now getting it posted!  And actually, I'd colored the image way before that.

I used a fun Kenny K's image (aren't they all fun?) for this card.  And the fabulous BG papers from the curio collection.  Sa-weet!!  Madeline loves to sing and dance, so that's what I wanted to put on her card.  I thought Mad Skillz was perfect!!  The 'singing' sentiment was computer generated.  I'm not 100% happy with it, but it's exactly what I wanted the card to say.

Not a whole lot more to say about this one.  She was fun to color and work up.  Hope you enjoy her too!  Thanks for stopping by today folks.  Have a grrrrrreat weekend!!
