Happy Birthday Dear Madeline!

This is my last post of the long Thanksgiving holiday.  : (  Dontcha wish it could go on and on?  {sigh}  Well...mine was an absolutely great one.  I hope yours was too!

I made this card for my granddaughter, Madeline, who will turn 11 this coming Thursday.  Wasn't it just yesterday she was such a sweet little 18 month old with her little Pebbles Flintstone ponytail on top of her head.  Then ya turn around for a second and she's 11!  Ya know my kids were sneaky like that too!  One day they're little bitty, the next they're all grown up and heading out the door!!  I guess it's like that for everyone, huh?

I thought this Stampavie dog was such a sweetie that she needed to go to a child... in this case a (kinda) little girl.  Thus the overdose of pink!!  haha!  Oh... and this was my first try at making a bow with my new bow-easy.  It was a little awkward, but everything I've read says that will be the case, then it'll get easier.  But isn't the bow just awesome?!?!?!?  I'm not trying to brag... I'm just so pleased!!  I've always been just awful at bows, but no more!  YIPEE!  Thanks bow-easy folks!  {happy grin}

The challenges:
1.  A Spoonful of Sugar - Colour Combo.  Start with brown as your basic color, then choose either pink or blue to go along with it.
3.  Allsorts Challenge - Buttons

Hope you all have a great start to your week.  Thanks for stopping by!

Joyous Snowman

I needed to make this card for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.  I'm a little disappointed with how this turned out.  I picked these papers because all their swirlies remind me of snow swirling through the skies.  Well... you just can't see those swirls very well with everything that's going on here.  But, I still like the colors and the big snowflake.  IRL, the 'snow gems' look way better, but I'm still not sure I'm going to leave them ALL on there.  I'll probably leave a few and use something else on all the others.  Hmmmmm... it just looks weird in this picture!!  Yuck!

For the layout, I followed the CPS-Card Sketches sketch.  I always love their designs and try to work them up whenever I can.

Gotta run tonight.  Thanks for stopping by.

Jingle All the Way

Jingle Balls, Jingle Balls, Jingle All the Way.  I suppose I won't be able to get that outta my head now!  Hahahaha... these little fellers just crack me up!!  This was another stamp I chose with my third place winnings from the WSD Paper Crafting Contest (see Little Miss Sunflower post).  I saw 'em and just could NOT resist.  I can't help but smile when I see them.  : )

I just keep making more and more Christmas cards.  I need a couple dozen for myself and I'm donating some to a raffle we're having at work next week.  I shouldn't have any trouble making that many.  I have a good start.  I'll really have to get on the ball as they need to go out in the next week or so!!  ACK!!

Little Miss Sunflower -- second post

Hello again.  I've been playing around having a great time today.  If you're still basking in Thanksgiving Day splendor, you're probably sitting around going 'awww... shouldn't have had thirds!!'!  It's OK... once a year.  You'll feel better tomorrow.

I have forgotten all about sharing some great news I got a couple of weeks ago.  I got third place in the last Whipper Snapper Designs - Paper Crafting Contest!!  I was sooooo tickled and amazed!!  It was the first time I'd entered so didn't really expect much.  When they emailed me with the news, it just made my day.  This little gal was part of what I ordered with my winnings ($25).  I just had to have her... so cute!  I selected this one (Acorn & Posie), Jingle Balls and the Winter Quilt set by Anna Wight.  Funnnnnnnnnnn.  Anyhoo... For this card, I decided to go whole hog with my favorite fall colors.  I really like how she turned out.  Fall is almost over, but maybe there's time for another card or two before winter truly sets in.

I cut the 'flower' circles using my nesties, then distressed them with some scissors.  I actually have a distressing tool, but no clue where it is.  I never did get to use that little sucker!!  ARGH!!  I'll find it some day, but it sure would be nice to find it tomorrow!!  I also added a little brown glitter to her acorn cap and the center of the sunflower.

I'll be entering this in the Inspirational Card Sketches.  There may be more challenges this fits, but this is the only one for now.

Thanks for stoppin' by.  Please... come back soon!  Denise

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello all!!  I'm hoping you're all having a wonderful day filled with friends, family and fabulous food!  It's a perfect day for recounting our blessings and being especially grateful.  I know I am!!  My family will be celebrating Saturday so I have to wait a little longer.  But, I'm grateful that today I can relax, be creative and anything else my little heart desires!  And that's been exactly what I've been doing!  I'll cook tomorrow... today is mine!!  : )

One thing that always makes me happy is posting and sharing with all of you.  : )  Today, I'm sharing my Bellarific Friday entry.  I've missed the last couple of weeks and I just hate that!!  But... not this week! YAY!!  This week the challenge was a sketch and I just LOVED it!  Nice and simple so our creativity can soar.  Well... I don't know if mine soared, but it sure was fun to work up!!  I went with Cosmobella and some beautiful fall colors from Basic Grey's Indian Summer.  I've been wanting to work Cosmo up and now I have.  She's really fun and easy... and soooo cool!!  To finish the card off, I added some plain white brads.  I don't know if I've EVER used plain white brads, but I thought they fit with this card and I like 'em.  Enjoy your day and... here's to you!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  If you have time to leave a comment, I always appreciative them!!

Wanna Play???

Good morning friends!  I'm posting while on my break at work!  This little guy happens to be the 'stamp twin' to my 'Let it Snow... Let it Snow... Let it Snow' post from Nov. 13.  Doesn't this guy look like he's loaded for bear and so ready to surprise someone with a snowball down the neck???   In a nice way, of course!!!  heehee

These snowflakes gave me quite the problem.  They were white originally (part of the surprise of my prize from janlynn.com), but I was going to use some ribbon (probably white) so white snowflakes didn't work so well.  Sooo... I tried several... many... different ribbons and just didn't like any of them.  I decided white ribbon and I'd outline each snowflake with BG10 copic marker.  I liked that, but the white ribbon still had to go.  It just didn't look right.  So I had outlined snowflakes which were great, but a little bland.  So I stickled 'em up and added a button to each one.  I'll be giving this to my grandson so I don't think stickles are a problem for a seven-year-old boy, right??

The challenges:
1.  Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Christmas for the Guys
2.  CPS - Card Sketches
3.  Allsorts Challenge - Made for a child

Gotta run for now.  Thanks for stopping by.

My Groovy Girlfriend

Whoa... guess I was in the need for a huge 'pink fix'!!  This one should hold me awhile!  hahahaha!  A very odd combination, don't you think.  But, I've concluded I like it now although I wasn't sure while I was making it.  Something a little different!!

I just wanted to make a girlfriend card and also use my Birds Galore stamp set from Inkadinkado.  So I thought I'd work them up together using the 'groovy' owl from that set.  I stamped the owl with Memento rich cocoa.  Then markered up the stamp to get color on the limb elements using SU markers... chocolate chip, certainly celery and rose romance and stamped again.  Finally, I used the markers right on the image to emphasize those colors a little better.  The sentiment is from the Grateful Greetings set from MFT (fabulous sentiment set - I suggest getting it if you can).  Seems like I need a little glitter or something, but I'm leaving it as is.

The challenges:
1.  Simon Says Challenge - Thinking of You
2.  3 Clover Thursday Challenge - Birds or Bugs
3.  The Pink Elephant - Be Thankful.  I hope my card qualifies as it doesn't really say 'thanks', but the sentiment set is 'Grateful Greetings'!  : )

Guess that's it for tonight.  Thanks for stopping in.  Hope to see you again!

Joyful Christmas Angel

Happy weekend stampers!  Hope yours will be filled with fun and doing whatever you desire.  I'll be heading out to my mom's in a short while but wanted to post this little angel first.

Doesn't she just look soooo joyful?!?!?  She was one of my 'surprise' stamps from the prize package I received from janlynn.com (see Classic Santa post).  I was so tickled to get her as sometimes I want a stamp that's a little smaller.  She fits that bill perfectly.  Fast and fun!!  I created her for the Colour Create Challenge (blue, silver and white), then found some others to work her into.  I loved this color challenge as I probably wouldn't choose these on my own.  But as you can see from looking at the DT cards, the combo makes beautiful cards.  Mine is not near as elegant as some of theirs, but I still like it.  Wish I'd have had some silver paper to work in, but... ohhhhh I found a quarter sheet of silver paper after I'd completed her!!!  Story of my life!!  heeheehee

The challenges:
1.  Colour Create Challenge - blue, silver and white.
3.  Card Position Systems - sketch

I used some MS glitter for the first time.  Man, what a mess!!!  I used my embossing buddy and everything and it still stuck on my image and just about everything else it touched!  Does anyone have any more knowledge on how to work with this line of glitter?  I love it... beautiful and fine, but I was more glittery after this card than I'd ever been before!!  : )

Gotta run.  Thanks so much for stopping by during your busy schedule!  Come again, 'K?

Let it Snow... Let it Snow... Let it Snow

I've had this little gal around for a year or more and so tickled to have finally gotten her worked up!!!  I absolutely love these stick kids from Penny Black.  I have about 8-10 of 'em.  This is one of my faves... LOVE her hair!!  I have a boy stamp to go with this one and probably should have worked him up too before unveiling her, but I just couldn't wait!

Finally, I'm using a SCS sketch again!!  YIPEE!!  They have some of the grrreatest sketches and I just keep missing out.  Not this time... heeheehee!  Not a ton of extras here.  I thought there was enough going on with the black patterned background paper and the layout.  There's stickles on the snowballs and some diamond gems in the middle of some circles in the bottom right corner.  Oh... and I popped up the main image.

The challenges:
1.  Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 254
2.  Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Song/Title Lyrics.  I went with 'Let it Snow... Let it Snow... Let it Snow'.  It always makes me think of kids which fits this card to a tee.
3.  Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - Four Seasons.  Pick one or all of 'em.

Thanks so much for visiting today.  Come again!!

Classic Santa

Awwwwwwwww... dontcha just love an wonderful classic Santa???  I got this great stamp from a prize package I won -- sponsor, janlynn.com.  Let me tell you something... that is one generous  sponsor!!  The prize was a $50 certificate to janlynn.com (extra great on its own).  Then when my 'order' arrived, there was probably another $50+ of extras I wasn't expecting.  It was just like Christmas!!  This stamp, Jolly Santa by Stamps Happen, was one I selected with my certificate.  Also shipped to me were 3-4 other stamps, a complete Christmas card-making set (papers (red used as my 'matting' color), embellies, etc) and other items!!!  Fun... fun... fun!!!

I colored Santa with classic Christmas red and green.  I went with a white snow embossed background trying to evoke the vision of a white Christmas.  I bought this beautiful ribbon on eBay a few months ago and I just LOVE it.  There are even more beautiful colors than you can see here.  Can't wait to use it again.  : )  Let's see... what else?  The sentiment is computer generated and I glittered up Santa's cap brim.

Now... the challenges...
1.  Cute Card Thursday - Glitter Me Silly
2.  Charisma Cardz - Merry and Bright
3.  Creative Inspirations - New or Neglected -- used my brand new stamp.
4.  Copic Colour Challenge" - use emerald green (g05), lipstick red (r29) and acid yellow (y08).  I did skip the acid yellow -- not really a 'classic' color.  : )
5.  Cupcake Craft Challenge - Snow Much Fun
6.  Crafty Creations - Snow
7.  Allsorts Challenge - Bring out your Bling
8.  Pals Paper Arts - Christmas Cheer

Thanks so much for stopping in.  Please... come again.

A Sugar Bowl Thank You

OMGoodness!!  It's just been too long since I've been able to do what I love... create cards!  Today was a good day because I got to sit down and stamp.  I decided to jump back in with one of my favorite challenges... The Sugar Bowl.  Their challenge this time was a great sketch and a 'please include' of 'Thankfulness'.  I thought little Poinsettia would make a great Christmas thank you card.  She is so adorable and there is no flower quite like the poinsettia!  Beautiful!!

This little gal turned out wayyyyy different than my original vision.  I was going to make her a tow head... a nearly white tow head.  When we were at the park over the weekend, I saw the cutest little girl and her hair was almost white.  Soooo cute!  So I played around trying to come up with the right mix of colors, but I just couldn't get my copics to make it work.  So, I ended up making her a dark brunette.  That's close, right??  Really it's because the red on the poinsettia bled into her hair.  I worked very hard to clean it up with my colorless blender, but red it just soooo tough to clean up... thus dark brunette she is.  : )

I sponged around the image with VersaMagic Niagra Mist.  Her little dress has been paper pieced.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you'll stop back again soon.
