Good Thursday morning all you fabulous crafters out there!! This is an exciting day for me as it's the first challenge at Saturated Canary Challenges where I'm participating as GDT! WooHOO!! To be included with that list of talented ladies is just mind-blowing!! Yep... it's a good day. OK... 'nuff of that... let's get to it.
This is What the Librarian Reads... which is a fab new image from Krista's latest release. I used her for our new challenge theme... BLING IT OUT. It was great fun creating this card. I'm not good at the 'over-the-top' embellishing that so many of you do so wonderfully, so this is pretty intense bling for me! I know, it's not a ton, but I like it all! I can't wait to see what the other DT gals have come up with. As well as you!!
Now... just to share a bit about creating this card. I like her with black hair, but that's not how she started. Nope... she started out as an auburn-haired beauty. Well... since I'd just used auburn hair on my 4th of July card (previous post), I just couldn't have two auburn-haired beauties in row, could I? So, I got out my copic colorless blender and went to work to get that auburn color to disappear. I was just sure it wasn't going to work. By the time I was done and ready to start with the cool grays, she looked terrible!! There was smatterings of light auburn left and all the "blendering" caused it to bleed outside the lines as well. Again... no way this was going to work. But I started in with the grays and I'll be danged if it didn't come out well after all!! Of course, going with black hair instead of say... blonde was a requirement rather than a choice! As I worked, I kept 'cleaning up' the auburn color outside the lines and finally, it was all good. I thought I was going to have to 'shadow' her with some darker coloring, but no... not necessary. I was just sooo pleased that I didn't have to go start from scratch. That's one thing I've found about this new Xpress-It paper. It cleans up really, really nicely. Normally, I just have to clean up little spots, but it's even good for a whole section of an image. {smile}
I'm adding a couple extra pictures for this post. I visit a lot of blogs and some have a lot of photos and some have one. I've been limiting myself to two, but I think maybe I like a bit more views. So... let me know what you like, OK? Just one, two to three or more than that? I'd be very interested to know.
